The British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (BVCA) has appointed Calum Paterson, the Managing Partner of Scottish Equity Partners, to be its vice chairman for the year 2017-18.
Calum will support Helen Steers, Partner and Head of European Primary Investment at Pantheon Ventures, who was appointed BVCA chairman for 2017-18 in December and takes up her role this month.
Paterson has more than 25 years’ experience in the industry and works across Scottish Equity Partner’s offices in London, Edinburgh and Glasgow. He is chairman of Scottish Equity Partners’ investment committee and has overseen its investments in more than 150 companies.
He is currently a non-executive director on the boards of fintech companies totallymoney.com and Zuto. He was also a member of the board of directors at Skyscanner, supporting its growth into a global business with over 60 million unique monthly visitors and more than 800 staff, prior to its £1.4 billion acquisition by NASDAQ-listed firm Ctrip in December 2016.
Paterson is also a director of Artemis AIM VCT plc and a member of the GlobalScot network. He has BA and MBA degrees from the University of Strathclyde, is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
The BVCA is the industry body for the UK private equity and venture capital industry and represents over 250 private equity and venture capital firms in the UK, as well as institutional investors, professional advisers, service providers and international associations.
