Private equity firm The Carlyle Group has acquired a majority stake in software business SER Group.
SER Group provides Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software solutions for medium-sized businesses and organisations across all industries. It was founded in 1984 as a provider of electronic archiving and is now the largest ECM provider in Europe.
The business is based in Germany and has more than 550 employees.
Carlyle’s investment will be used to support SER’s management team as it grows the business further.
Michael Wand, Managing Director and Co-Head of Carlyle Europe Technology Partners, said: "Carlyle will seek to support SER with succession planning, select internationalisation and product innovation."
Kurt-Werner Sikora, spokesperson for SER‘s management board, added: "Carlyle’s success in the software sector means the team will bring relevant expertise to the company."
