Private equity firm Mobeus Equity Partners has invested £3 million of growth capital in Parsley Box, a meal delivery service for elderly people.
Parsley Box was founded in 2017 by Adrienne and Gordon Macaulay after they could not find a suitable meal provider for Gordon’s mother.
It now provides a range of more than 80 different ambient meals direct to customers in their own homes by next day delivery. The meals keep for up to six months without being frozen. The business has a revenue run rate of over £5 million per annum, so far completing 130,000 orders for over 75,000 customers.
The investment by Mobeus will be used to accelerate product development, customer acquisition and recruitment.
Amit Hindocha, Investment Partner at Mobeus, said: “Mobeus was impressed with the growth rate that Parsley Box has achieved in a very short time. The business is meeting a very real need for a quality elderly nutrition brand for this growing demographic.”
Gordon Macauley, Co-founder of Parsley Box, added: “The traditional meal delivery services we saw were both very expensive and suffered from slow delivery. Parsley Box has reinvented the service by offering next day delivery and a wide range of meals for customers just like my mother.”
