Private equity firm Mobeus has acquired a majority stake in Ski Solutions, a luxury winter sports travel company, as part of a £6 million secondary buyout.
Ski Solutions, which is based in London, provides bespoke ski holidays in hotels, chalets and resorts in Europe and North America. The company has grown by more than 20% a year over the past three years.
The Mobeus investment will be used to fund bolt-on acquisitions and help the management accelerate the company’s growth, both in winter holidays and in the fast-growing summer activities and adventure market. Ski Solutions has recently established a summer activities division with the acquisitions of BSpoke Tours in 2014 and Cycling for Softies in 2015.
As part of the deal John Wimbleton, a travel industry executive who was previously on the Group Management Board at TUI Travel and Scott Dunn, will join the company as chairman.
Mobeus Partner Ashley Broomberg, who led the deal, said: “We see this as an exciting platform investment enabling us to bring the Ski Solutions luxury experience, including expert advice and excellence in client service, to a much broader range of activity holidays. The company caters to a very attractive demographic of affluent customers who are increasingly looking for active holidays, with comfort which are tailor-made to their requirements.”
Craig Burton, CEO of Ski Solutions, added: “We have a fantastic team assembled and the right backing to further increase our market share in ski, and build the group out from our established cycle brands into the growing soft activities and adventure holiday market.”
This investment marks Mobeus’s fifth deal from its debut institutional fund and brings the sum invested to over £40 million in just over a year.
